Mountaintops

We are not made for the

mountains, for sunrises,

or for the other beautiful attractions in life - those are simply intended to be

moments of inspiration.

We see His glory on the mountain,

but we never live for his glory there.

God wants us to be at the drab everyday level,

where we live in the valley

according to our personal relationship with Him.

Oswald Chambers

We had just been talking about this in bible study, about how God calls us to be faithful in our daily lives and routines. I think that this is something I easily forget. It's easy to think that serving the Lord means volunteering or something definitive. But serving God in the everyday things is just as important.

"Whatever your task, put yourselves to it, as done for the Lord and not for your masters, since you know that from the Lord you will receive an inheritance as your reward; you serve the Lord Christ."
