So up until recently I had been realllllly good at worrying. As soon as there was something to fret over I would find a way to make it into a huge deal and worry myself sick. I found this quote from Henri Nouwen and just fell in love with it...
"Make the conscious choice to move the attention of your anxious heart away from these waves and direct it to the One who walks on them and says, 'It's me. Don’t be afraid'"
I love this because it is such a powerful and comforting image. Our Father, who can do the miraculous and unthinkable (walking on the waves) calls to us to overcome our simple everyday worries. If I choose to believe that he CAN walk on the waves, which I do, then I need to believe all the more that he is powerful enough to handle my little problems and worries. What a loving, powerful God we serve.
